Meniere’s disease is a condition of the inner ear and is known for:
Most people diagnosed with Meniere’s disease fall into the age range of 20 to 50. These attacks can last for 20 minutes or as long as 4 hours.
The exact cause of Meniere’s is under debate. However, the one thing researchers agree on is that it has to do with fluid build-up within the inner ear and the vestibulocochlear nerve. These are part of the system of the body that is responsible for balance and letting the brain know where the body is located in its environment.

Most medical doctors will recommend an over-the-counter or prescription drug to help alleviate the symptoms of Meniere’s. However, this does not address the underlying cause which often lies just below the head. The bones of the upper neck are responsible for protecting the brainstem. If they become misaligned, however, they can then create pressure that causes the brainstem to malfunction. This hinders communication to and from the brain and body. Proper blood flow to the brain and ears is also negatively impacted.
At Upper Cervical Sioux Falls, we focus attention on making sure the C1 and C2 vertebrae are in proper alignment. If they are not, we use a gentle method that encourages them to move back in place without forcing them by popping or twisting the spine. This helps them to realign naturally and allows the body to repair the damage done by the misalignment.
Studies done involving Meniere’s patients have revealed that this does indeed help alleviate symptoms for some in as little as one adjustment. Many patients report seeing an improvement in their Meniere’s symptoms, especially vertigo.
